This year, long trenches and peacoats aren’t in style for fall and winter. This season’s shrunken jacket will come in a number of designs and be quite popular. New, tinier coats have the same design and style as their larger counterparts, but they are shorter in length and generally tie or button beneath the chest, unlike the conventional coats. The new designs are stunning because they provide warmth in the winter months without losing a woman’s sense of sexuality or femininity.
It would be a shame to pick just one of the various jackets that are available this autumn, which are so varied in style and materials. The denim jacket has returned with a fury. There is a new kind of denim jacket this season that is softer, body-conscious, and much more feminine looking than the typical denim jacket of previous seasons. Leather and corduroy, both cropped and ready to wear over anything from your favorite dress to faded denim, are back in style.
A fresh spin on an old favorite is always safe, but don’t miss out on the incredible new materials and designs that the year’s closing months have to offer. The rich, complex pattern of brocade is prominent this season, and some of the most sought-after new jackets are fashioned of it. Cropped bell sleeves (imagine bellbottom sleeves, cut below the elbow) combine a homage to 1970s design with a classic fabric (Banana Republic). Miniature versions of the military jacket are also on the way, in cropped, girly versions with brass buttons and zippers (Bebe).
Because of its adaptability, it is a joy to wear these coats with a variety of outfits, from jeans to dresses to skirts. A fresh spin on an old classic may benefit all shapes and sizes since there isn’t one certain design or fabric that will rule supreme this autumn.
